Shows the progress of a runbook run: a text status of its steps for the chat, and a page on localhost with each step's log lines and output files. Load it when the human asks for the progress or status of a runbook run or to read a step's output, and when a runbook's Execution rules point here.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# Runbook viewer

`<viewer>` is the directory this `SKILL.md` was loaded from. `view.py` shows runs of engine 1.x and 2.x, and only reads the run directory.

## During a run

For the orchestrator of a runbook. After every `flow.py` command that launches or ends a step (`start`, `reply`, `answer`, `interrupted`, `relaunch`), run `python3 <viewer>/view.py <run> --status --tail 10` and show its output to the human as it is, in a code block, with no commentary. Once the run has ended, run it once more without `--tail`. Nothing while waiting for a step. Do not start the page unless the human asks for it.

## When the human asks

- For the page: start `python3 <viewer>/view.py <run>` as a background process that outlives the turn, give the human the URL it prints as its first line, and open it in the harness's own browser pane if there is one. Without a run named, pass the runs directory, `.agent-runbooks/runs` under the directory the session started in: the viewer takes the run modified last. The server runs until the human says to stop it, the session ends, or no page has been open for 30 minutes; if the human asks for the page after that, start it again.

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add agent-runbooks/skills/runbook-viewer@sha256:d11b31e233b19ba3

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261012.e372ef7, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
