add-app-to-cluster SKILL.md skillA

add-app-to-cluster from tanguille/cluster is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Install it, pinned
mdr add tanguille/cluster/add-app-to-cluster@git:20261014.1b8131c

Pins git:20261014.1b8131c in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Deploy new applications to the Kubernetes cluster via FluxCD GitOps. Creates HelmReleases, Kustomizations, and namespace configs following repo conventions. user: "Deploy jellyfin" → HelmRelease with app-template, HTTPRoute, persistence user: "Add uptime-kuma" → Deploy with probes, route, resource limits user: "Install prometheus exporter" → HelmRelease with custom scrape config Use proactively when the user mentions deploying, installing, adding, or setting up an application.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# Add app to cluster

Deploy applications using FluxCD GitOps patterns in this repository.

## When to use

- New app deployment or major app scaffold in `kubernetes/apps/`.
- User asks to install, deploy, or add a service to the cluster.

## Workflow

### 1. Research (subagent)

Use [k8s-at-home-research](../k8s-at-home-research/SKILL.md) to find exemplar manifests — prefers kubesearch MCP when available. Spawn a subagent with the app name and namespace; return the best values and adaptation notes.

Confirm before scaffolding: image + tag (plain upstream tag — Renovate pins digests, never invent one), port, route internal/external, persistence (→ kopiur component), secrets (→ `secret.sops.yaml`), config files (→ configMapGenerator), Flux `dependsOn`.

### 2. Create worktree

Use the [git-worktree-isolation](../git-worktree-isolation/SKILL.md) recipe: `.worktrees/feat-add-<app-name>` branched from `origin/main`, with local config copied in.

### 3. Namespace

List existing namespaces with `ls kubernetes/apps/` and pick the best fit; confirm with the user before creating a new one.

### 4. Structure

```text
kubernetes/apps/<namespace>/<app-name>/
├── ks.yaml
└── app/
…
Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add tanguille/cluster/add-app-to-cluster@sha256:17e87110f11ebeb5
The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261014.1b8131c, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
