Find related notes via semantic search and weave links. Stage 4 of the processing pipeline.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Connect Stage
Find related notes via semantic search (qmd) and weave forward/backward links.
See `../obsidian/references/pipeline.md` for stage definitions and status flow.
See `../obsidian/references/connecting.md` for the connection discovery algorithm.
## Input
A routed note with `status: routed`.
## Process
1. Check qmd availability:

```
If not available, log "Skipped connections: qmd not available", set `status: connected`, and return.
2. Extract query terms from the note's title and body
3. Run semantic search:

qmd query "{terms}" -c {collection} -n 15 --json
```
4. Filter and rank per `../obsidian/references/connecting.md`:
- Remove self
- Remove already-linked notes
- Remove daily notes
- Remove weak matches, judged from the snippet (qmd scores are ranks, not a relevance scale)
5. If candidates found, present to human (when called by orchestrator):
- Show each candidate with its snippet and a few words on why it looks like a strong or weak match
- Let user multi-select which to connect
6. For selected connections:
- Add `## Related` section to the note with wiki-links

How to install
mdr add technicalpickles/pickled-claude-plugins/connect@sha256:50a01d9d2b235987The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261028.1458c1b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
