Diagnose and fix code-graph index issues. Use when: search returns unexpected/empty results, or after major codebase restructuring. Covers the health check and both rebuild paths from the CLI.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Index Maintenance ## Check health ```bash code-graph-mcp health-check ``` ## Rebuild (incremental — only changed files) ```bash code-graph-mcp incremental-index ``` ## Full rebuild (when incremental isn't enough) ```bash code-graph-mcp rebuild-index --confirm ``` This builds the new index in a temporary location and swaps it in with an atomic rename, so a running MCP server (and its open WAL) never observes a half-built index. Deleting the `.code-graph/` directory by hand skips that swap, which is the exact situation the atomic path exists for. `get_index_status` and `rebuild_index` do dispatch over JSON-RPC, but they are deliberately kept out of `tools/list` to save tokens (`src/mcp/tools.rs`), so they are not in your callable tool set — the CLI above is the surface you have. It is also the only one that works with no server running.

How to install
mdr add sdsrss/code-graph-mcp/index@sha256:86aa412f1abaad82The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260913.7dc7eb4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
