Rebuild the knowledge tag index. Scans promoted files, normalizes tags, flags untagged files, suggests freeform-to-known promotions, detects stale files, suggests cross-references, updates project-to-tag mappings, and regenerates index.md. Use when user says '/index', 'rebuild index', 'update index', 'reindex knowledge'. Also called automatically by /audit knowledge. (Code port — ADR-094.).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# /index — Knowledge Index Builder
Scan all promoted knowledge files, normalize tags, detect issues, and regenerate `{knowledge_folder}/index.md`.
## Runtime Gate (per ADR-094)
**Canonical resolution:** This is the Claude Code variant. When both `plugin-claude-code` and `plugin-claude-cowork` are loaded in the same session (most common in Claude Desktop), bare `/index` resolves to this skill — aria-knowledge (Code) is the canonical owner of all 24 dual-port skills per ADR-094 §Part 1. The Cowork variant is namespaced-only: `/aria-cowork:index`.
**Before Step 0 — runtime self-correction.** Check whether the `Bash` tool is available in this session. If `Bash` is NOT available (you are running in Claude Cowork or another non-Code runtime), this invocation reached the wrong variant for the runtime. **Do not ask — redirect.** Announce it in one line, then use the `Skill` tool to invoke `aria-cowork:index` with the same arguments the user provided, and do not run this skill's steps:

How to install
mdr add mikeprasad/aria-knowledge/index@sha256:0a508a3a5ab7e156The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260910.f7a7ed3, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
