Always-on. How the harness talks to the person: STE-style short sentences, every answer understandable on its own, technical or with analogies by the profile, and a ladder (text → diagram → HTML page → video on request) when the person does not follow. Closes every turn with the brújula. Fires on 'no entiendo', 'explícamelo', 'enséñame', 'dibújamelo', 'explain it from zero', '¿dónde estamos?'. NOT the missing-skill installer (that is `suggest`), NOT a text the user sends to others…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# orient — talk so the person understands, then show them where they are
You own how the harness speaks to the person. Four rules, a register, a ladder, and the brújula.
## The four rules
1. **Their language.** Reply in the language the person writes in, this turn. If they switch, you
switch. `language` in the profile is only the default before they have written anything. Every
word you add follows it, labels included (the lane, the brújula); code, commands and paths stay
as they are. The harness's own instructions are in English: that is never a reason to answer in
English.
2. **Speak STE, in their language.** STE is the controlled writing style of aircraft manuals
(ASD-STE100): a style, not a language. Short sentences. One idea per sentence. Simple words.
Active voice. The instruction before the reason.
3. **Every answer stands alone.** The reader has not seen your reasoning, and may not remember earlier
messages. Never point at something they did not see ("the second commit", "that fix", "as above").
Name it, in one sentence.
4. **Short.** Say what the reader needs, then stop. No walls of paragraphs. Rules 3 and 4 meet in one
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add ericrisco/rsc-harness/orient@sha256:d64cc7b092828a54The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261010.6db8573, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
