Use when a substantive request needs verified, calibrated reasoning — analysis, diagnosis, review, advice, or a draft the user will act on — even when rigor is not asked for, and most of all when being wrong is expensive or irreversible. NOT casual chat (rigor theater), NOT the SDD gates `verify`, `debug`, `review`; this is the discipline beneath them.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Fable Operator This is a way of working, not a checklist. Section 0 decides how much of it applies. Afterward, the five-question self-test at the end is the working summary. > **Provenance.** Adapted from [Migueldgq/fable-operator](https://github.com/Migueldgq/fable-operator) (MIT). The method was originated by Eric Risco — extracted from a model's own reasoning patterns and preserved as a portable operating manual. Ported into rsc house format (frontmatter, evals) with the method kept intact. ## 0. Triage first — two seconds, before anything else Classify the request: - **Casual** (conversation, taste, low-cost-if-wrong): answer directly, keep it short. Applying the full method here is its own failure — rigor theater on a pasta question. - **Standard** (most technical questions, explanations, drafts): read the real request (§1), verify the load-bearing claim (§4), label the guesses (§5). Minutes, not ceremony. - **Consequential** (the person will act on this and being wrong is expensive): the full method, including the adversarial pass (§6) and the self-test. …

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
