opencv-template-matching SKILL.md skillA
opencv-template-matching from cxcscmu/skilllearnbench is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add cxcscmu/skilllearnbench/opencv-template-matching@git:20260424.d50cf5aPins git:20260424.d50cf5a in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Count occurrences of a template object in an image using OpenCV template matching with NMS.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# OpenCV Template Matching for Object Counting
## Installation
```bash
pip install opencv-python numpy
```
## Basic Template Matching
```python
import cv2
import numpy as np
def count_objects(scene_path, template_path, threshold=0.7):
scene = cv2.imread(scene_path, cv2.IMREAD_GRAYSCALE)
template = cv2.imread(template_path, cv2.IMREAD_GRAYSCALE)
# Resize template if needed (optional multi-scale)
result = cv2.matchTemplate(scene, template, cv2.TM_CCOEFF_NORMED)
locations = np.where(result >= threshold)
return len(locations[0])
```
## With Non-Maximum Suppression (NMS) to Avoid Duplicates
```python
import cv2
import numpy as np
def count_objects_nms(scene_path, template_path, threshold=0.7):
scene = cv2.imread(scene_path, cv2.IMREAD_GRAYSCALE)
template = cv2.imread(template_path, cv2.IMREAD_GRAYSCALE)
h, w = template.shape[:2]
result = cv2.matchTemplate(scene, template, cv2.TM_CCOEFF_NORMED)
locations = np.where(result >= threshold)
boxes = []
scores = []
for pt in zip(*locations[::-1]): # (x, y) pairs
boxes.append([pt[0], pt[1], pt[0] + w, pt[1] + h])
scores.append(result[pt[1], pt[0]])
How to install
mdr add cxcscmu/skilllearnbench/opencv-template-matching@sha256:fc01e4fad366dcd8The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260424.d50cf5a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
