Send chat completions through OpenProxy's OpenAI-compatible API — POST /v1/chat/completions, the `provider/model` addressing convention, combos as bare model names, `stream: true` SSE framing, tools / tool_calls passthrough, and reading combo fallback out of a response. Use whenever the user asks to call a model through the proxy, pick a model from GET /v1/models, wire an agent loop to the router, or debug a chat call that 404s with `No active credentials for provider: …`, 400s with `Unknown…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# openproxy-chat — chat completions through `/v1/chat/completions`
OpenProxy exposes an OpenAI-compatible chat surface on `127.0.0.1:4623`. One endpoint —
`POST /v1/chat/completions` — fronts 40+ providers, with model-level account fallback, combos,
and request/response format translation underneath.
This skill is about getting a chat call right: addressing a model, streaming it, using tools, and
reading back what the router actually did.
## 0 · Preconditions
The server must already be running. Check before anything else:
```bash
curl -sS http://127.0.0.1:4623/health
```
`/health` needs no auth and returns `{"status":"ok", …}`. If it is not `ok`, start the server first
— see the `openproxy` skill (`.agents/skills/openproxy/SKILL.md`) for install and start.
Two different credentials, and this trips people up:
| Surface | Credential | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `/v1/*` (`/v1/chat/completions`, `/v1/models`) | Proxy API key | `Authorization: Bearer $OPENPROXY_API_KEY`. Mint with `openproxy key add <name> --auto`. |

How to install
mdr add quangdang46/openproxy/openproxy-chat@sha256:beb794f1f667cc86The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260928.5199045, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
