Classify out-of-bounds read evidence — BUFFER_ACCESS events with array_oob_read/heap_oob_read categories. Maps to CWE-125.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

## Out-of-Bounds Analysis (CWE-125)

### Evidence Pattern
An out-of-bounds candidate has:
- **BUFFER_ACCESS event** with category `array_oob_read` (fixed-size array read
past its declared size), `heap_oob_read` (loop bound past a
  `malloc`/`calloc` allocation), or `array_oob_read_unchecked` (a fixed-size
array indexed by a struct field with NO bounds check at the access site — the
  external/config-index shape; heuristic tier)
- The subscript appears on the read side of an expression, e.g.
  `secret = arr[i];` or `sum += buf[i];`
- **out_of_bounds**: the access site (function and line)
- **buffer**: the array being read (`array: <name> (capacity: N elements)` when
  the declared size resolved)
- **index**: the access index expression
- **index_source**: the struct field an unchecked index was read from (the
  `array_oob_read_unchecked` tier)
- **element_field**: the pointer-typed member read out of the indexed element
- **escape**: the callee the out-of-bounds element (or its address) reaches
- **call_path**: the function is reachable from an entry point

The two tiers are distinct:

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add dannyan/secguard-clang/out-of-bounds@sha256:77ba15d068763284

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261021.a38682b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
