Keep a file past the end of the session — find an existing archived file first, then archive the new one with a dated name, a "why" line and a secret scan; or report what the scratch sweeper would delete. Use when the user asks to keep, save, archive or file away a report, plan, extract, backup or script ("keep this", "save it for later", "보관해", "남겨 둬"), when you are about to create a long-lived file, or when asked what the tmp cleanup will delete.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# file-lifecycle: archive
Session scratch files live in `$CLAUDE_SESSION_TMP` and are deleted after the grace
period once the session ends. Anything a later session should see goes to the
archive. The tool is `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/scripts/archive.py`; the archive root is
`archive_root` in `~/.claude/groundwork/file-lifecycle.json` (default `~/claude-archive`).

update that one instead of making a second copy.

- Write `--why` so a reader can decide from that line alone whether to open the file:
where it came from, and the condition under which it is reused.
- The file is moved (use `--copy` to keep the source). Symlinks are never moved.

How to install
mdr add choiyounggi/groundwork/archive@sha256:e5017a1bb241b2deThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261022.b5651eb, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
