Guided build-out of a Home Assistant house — create areas, assign entities and devices, provision helpers, and scaffold starter automations. Thin orchestration of existing CLI commands; all structural writes are gated by ha_safety_mode.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Set Up Your House
Guided build-out of your Home Assistant house structure. Each step runs existing `ha-agent-lab` commands; no new subsystem. Every write is gated by `ha_safety_mode` (strict = proposal, ask = native approval).
## Steps
### 1. Take inventory
Run all four in parallel and present a summary:

### 2. Create areas
Ask: "Which rooms or zones would you like to create? (e.g. Living Room, Kitchen, Bedroom 1)"
For each area the operator names:
1. Check the `list-areas` output — skip if the area already exists (case-insensitive match on name).
2. Preview the target, then run: `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/bin/ha-agent-lab ha create-area "<name>"`
3. Handle the result:

How to install
mdr add gtapps/hermitd/ha-setup-house@sha256:93e80af2cbaa77f5The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261017.16f0d8e, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
