Squash each contributor's run of contiguous commits on the current branch into one, preserving authorship. CI snapshot commits (authored by bots) are preserved in place and reported.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Squash Squash the current branch's commits while preserving attribution. Each contributor's run of contiguous commits collapses into a single commit authored by that contributor. CI snapshot commits are left untouched. `message_hint` = any text after `/squash` once a `--parent <ref>` flag (if present) is stripped, or empty string if none was given. `--parent <ref>` overrides base detection: only commits after `<ref>` are squashed. Example invocations: - `/squash` - `/squash Refactor authentication flow` - `/squash --parent origin/haacked/parent-branch` ## Definitions - A **CI snapshot commit** is any commit whose author email contains `[bot]` (e.g. `github-actions[bot]@users.noreply.github.com`). - A **developer commit** is every other commit. - A **run** is a maximal sequence of developer commits by the same author email, uninterrupted by another human's commits. CI snapshot commits do NOT break a run; a developer commit by a different author does. ## Steps ### 1. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
