Creates a focused conventional git commit that keeps raw data, PHI, and large outputs out of version control. Use when the user says commit or save changes.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Git Commit ## Skill Value - **Problem it solves:** Uncommitted work needs to be saved without staging unrelated files or producing vague commit messages. - **Use when:** The user says commit, save changes, or create a commit for current staged or unstaged work. - **Output:** One or more focused commits with repo-convention messages. - **Ask only if:** Only when branch safety, detached HEAD state, or ambiguous grouping blocks a safe commit. - **Do not do:** Do not stage unrelated files or commit directly to the default branch without following repo policy. - **Interaction:** Check repo/config/chat evidence first. mdr add sajor2000/methodsmith/method-commit@sha256:535bd80055eb9355The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.73e5a37, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
