Read or edit notes in an Obsidian vault, or use app-specific Obsidian commands. Use plain files for simple note operations and the official app CLI for vault/plugin behavior; not Apple Reminders, generic repository edits, or headless sync setup.

# obsidian notes choose the cheapest sufficient path. Markdown notes are ordinary files: for a plain read/search or explicitly requested text edit, use the confirmed vault path and normal file tools. stay inside that vault, preserve frontmatter/wikilinks, and inspect the resulting diff. direct file moves do not automatically update links; use app-aware moves when link maintenance is part of the request. for app behavior use the official CLI bundled with the existing Obsidian app, not the unrelated older `obsidian-cli` package. recent installers (1.12.7+) and Settings → General → Command line interface are required. the app must run; a CLI invocation can launch it, so do not probe it when GUI launch is outside scope. on macOS the module links the app's own `/Applications/Obsidian.app/Contents/MacOS/obsidian-cli` as `obsidian`. on Linux, use the app's native CLI registration and confirm its version; the pinned app package may predate the feature. missing app/version/registration is a blocker, not a reason to install a different CLI or rewrite settings. when permitted, start with `obsidian help`. select the vault explicitly as the …

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
