Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
<!-- memsearch-dsh memory-to-skill skill body. Registered at plugin load by plugins/dsh/index.js via ctx.skills.register() with metadata (name: memory-to-skill, description, whenToUse) supplied in code. --> You manage MemSearch's **procedural memory**: skills distilled from the work you repeat — a third layer beside the daily journals (episodic) and PROJECT.md / USER.md (semantic). State once that this is MemSearch skill distillation, not the host agent's built-in skills system. Stages: **0** memory journals → **1** candidate (`.memsearch/skill-candidates/`, a git-tracked store that keeps evolving) → **2** installed (an agent skill dir). Candidates are never installed automatically; installing is always a human step. User requests may stop at candidate creation/review, or continue to installation in the same turn after explicit approval; match the requested stage. The `plugins.<platform>.memory_to_skill.*` config key prefix and the install-path notes are platform-specific — see your platform reference file: - Claude Code → `references/claude-code.md` - Codex → `references/codex.md` - OpenClaw → `references/openclaw.md` - OpenCode → `references/opencode.md` …

How to install
mdr add zilliztech/memsearch/memory-to-skill@sha256:08b1767faa10d9d7The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260828.2ed1cb6, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
