Reference for writing documents an agent reads — skills, AGENTS.md / CLAUDE.md, and the files they point at. Use when authoring or editing a SKILL.md, writing or pruning an AGENTS.md / CLAUDE.md, deciding whether a skill should be model- or user-invoked, choosing what to inline versus push behind a pointer, or diagnosing a document the agent follows inconsistently between runs.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# /mf:author — writing documents an agent will read
A reference for any document an agent consumes: a skill, an `AGENTS.md` or `CLAUDE.md`, a file reached by a pointer from either. The packaging differs; the writing does not. The same levers make each one **predictable** — the agent taking the same _process_ every run, which is not the same as producing the same output.
When the document is a skill, also read `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/references/skill-mechanics.md` for frontmatter, the invocation choice, and router skills.
## Context pointers
A **context pointer** is a reference held in the agent's context that names some out-of-context material and encodes the condition for reaching it. A skill's `description` is one. A line in `AGENTS.md` naming a doc is the same object. The pointer's _wording_, not its target, decides when the agent reaches the material — and how reliably. A must-have target behind a weakly worded pointer is a **variance bug**: sharpen the wording first, and inline the material only if sharpening fails.

How to install
mdr add emaballarin/ccplugins/author@sha256:5016ce3a3c715b14The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261003.c3a2a35, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
