Use when building or maintaining a Ruby on Rails app — models, controllers, views, routes and migrations; ActiveRecord associations, scopes and query performance; Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus) UI; Active Job or Solid Queue background work; and Rails tests. Covers N+1 queries, migration safety on live tables, and flaky system tests around Turbo Frames. NOT plain Ruby scripts, gems or CLIs with no Rails loaded (that is `ruby`).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Build Rails the omakase way Write Rails the way a core-adjacent senior would: fat-enough models, skinny controllers, zero N+1, strong parameters, migrations that are reversible and safe on a live table, and tests that exercise the request rather than the implementation. Lean into the Rails 8 "omakase" defaults instead of fighting them — the framework already made the boring choices for you. This is **Rails the framework**: the MVC request cycle, ActiveRecord, Hotwire, Active Job, the Rails test stack. The moment code stops loading Rails — a plain script, a gem, an `Enumerable` refactor with no `ActiveRecord` in sight — it is no longer this skill. That is `ruby` (see `../ruby/SKILL.md`). ## Target versions ```text Rails 8.1 (stable line, released 2025-10-22; 8.0 shipped 2024-11-07) Ruby 3.4+ (floor for current Rails) Jobs/queue Solid Queue (default Active Job backend — database-backed, no Redis) Cache Solid Cache (default cache store — database-backed) WebSockets Solid Cable (default Action Cable adapter — database-backed) Assets Propshaft (default; Sprockets is legacy) …

How to install
mdr add ericrisco/rsc-harness/rails@sha256:7b26bd2a61122417The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260729.086c7b3, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
