Use when building, changing, or deploying an instancez backend - editing instancez.yaml (tables, RLS, auth, storage, rpc, functions), running the inz CLI, or debugging why a query is denied. instancez is a single-binary Supabase-compatible backend defined by one YAML file.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Building with instancez instancez turns one file, `instancez.yaml`, into a full backend: Postgres CRUD, auth, storage, SQL RPC, and Node.js functions. Clients talk to it with `@supabase/supabase-js` (or any Supabase client library) unchanged. There are no migration files: on every run the migrator diffs the YAML against the live database and applies the delta, including drops. ## Workflow If `inz` is not installed: `curl -fsSL https://get.instancez.ai | sh` (macOS/Linux) or `irm https://get.instancez.ai/windows | iex` (PowerShell). ```sh inz init # scaffold instancez.yaml + .development.env.example inz validate # check YAML syntax and references, no DB needed inz dev --embedded-pg # dev server on :8080 with a built-in Postgres 16 ``` Edit `instancez.yaml`, save, and `inz dev` re-applies the schema automatically. Always run `inz validate` after editing the YAML; it catches bad types, bad references, and missing function files without touching a database. …

How to install
mdr add instancez/instancez/instancez@sha256:56c012d9b6cd31fbThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261021.95dcf5e, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
