Drive the herdr terminal workspace manager: inspect workspaces, tabs, and panes, hand work to sibling coding agents in other panes (distinct from in-session `Agent` subagents), split panes for collaborative file viewing or long-running processes, and correlate panes to Claude sessions. Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. herdr manages the terminal workspace this session runs in, including every pane, tab, and sibling coding agent.

Bare `herdr` launches or attaches the TUI in this pane. A mutating command in bare form runs on its defaults instead of printing usage, so `herdr workspace create` creates a workspace.

Columns are workspace, then `pane agent/status session cwd title`, with `cwd` shown only when it differs from the workspace checkout. That view projects `herdr api snapshot`, which returns this machine's workspaces, tabs, panes, layouts, and agents in one call. Prefer it to a sequence of `list` calls, and read it raw when the projection is wrong: `herdr api snapshot | jq .`

How to install
mdr add bendrucker/claude/herdr@sha256:a571633526356684The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261014.73cff86, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
