Operate and coordinate AI agents in Herdr workspaces in Ghostty. Use when the user mentions Herdr or asks to inspect, message, wait for, or coordinate its agents. Excludes cmux and ordinary terminal sessions.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Herdr
Herdr's CLI controls terminal panes through a local socket; it provides neither native agent-to-agent communication nor shared memory. It works with Pi, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor CLI, and other terminal agents. Native integrations improve detection, status accuracy, and session restoration.
## Preconditions
Run the controlling agent inside Herdr in Ghostty. Verify access and workspace scope:

If either fails, tell the user this agent must be launched inside Herdr; do not claim access to other agents.

## Inspect, message, wait, read
Append `--session <name>` to every Herdr command. `HERDR_SESSION` alone can silently select an already-running server. Discover pane IDs; never guess them.

How to install
mdr add davidondrej/skills/herdr@sha256:c8c535fae32c9690The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261018.eaed515, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
