Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Spec Writing
## When to use
| Artifact | For |
| --- | --- |
| **Feature spec** | A feature that will be built and tracked. Maps the whole behavior, then breaks into tasks. → `templates.md` |
| **ADR** | An architectural decision. → template below |
A feature spec is written by `{{command:spec}}` and published by `{{command:epic}}`. The two are separate
on purpose: the spec closes before a single issue exists.
## Core rule — a spec is closed or it is not a spec
A **closed** spec has zero unresolved blocking ambiguity. Not "documented as a risk" — resolved. A `Risks`
section carried into implementation means the design is unfinished.
The gate, checked before the status moves to `closed`:
- No placeholder or hedge in the spec's language — `TBD`, `???`, "to be defined", "maybe" and their
translations — and no question mark in a declarative sentence.
- Every user-facing message is the **literal string**, in quotes — not "an error message".

How to install
mdr add atnexuslab/tightship/spec-writing@sha256:3b8eb94a4b212472The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261015.8e86e2c, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
