Generates production-ready Dockerfiles with multi-stage builds, layer caching, security hardening (non-root users, minimal base images), health checks, and automatic .dockerignore creation. Validates output using devops-skills:dockerfile-validator with iterative error fixing. Use when a user wants to create, generate, write, or build a Dockerfile or docker image, containerize an app, set up a container, or needs a Dockerfile for Node.js, Python, Go, Java, or another language. Also applies when…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Dockerfile Generator ## Overview Generates production-ready Dockerfiles with security, optimization, and best practices built-in: multi-stage builds, security-hardened configurations, optimized layer structures, automatic validation, and iterative error fixing. ## Philosophy - Secure and reproducible by default: pinned tags, non-root user, minimal base images, no secrets in the image. - Order layers so the cache does the work: dependencies before application code. - Every generated Dockerfile ships with a .dockerignore and is validated before delivery. - Iterate on validator findings instead of suppressing them, and justify any warning left in place. ## When to Use - The user wants to create, generate or write a Dockerfile for Node.js, Python, Go, Java or another language. - The user asks to containerize an app, set up a container or optimize a Docker build. - A multi-stage build, layer caching or security hardening is needed. - A .dockerignore is needed alongside the Dockerfile. ## When Not to Use - Validating an existing Dockerfile without changing it (use devops-skills:dockerfile-validator). - Building or running containers, or debugging a running container. …

How to install
mdr add pantheon-org/tekhne/dockerfile-generator@sha256:cc7dbcf0588d0d9dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261001.6ed2a6a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
