dockerfile-validator SKILL.md skillA
dockerfile-validator from pantheon-org/tekhne is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add pantheon-org/tekhne/dockerfile-validator@git:20261001.6ed2a6aPins git:20261001.6ed2a6a in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Validates, lints, and secures Dockerfiles by running syntax checking, detecting security vulnerabilities, validating layer ordering, checking for hardcoded secrets, verifying base image tags, and analyzing build optimization. Use when validating Dockerfile syntax, checking security best practices, optimizing image builds, auditing container security, or debugging Dockerfile errors. Applies to all Dockerfile variants (Dockerfile, Dockerfile.prod, Dockerfile.dev, etc.).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Dockerfile Validator ## Philosophy - Lint first, scan second: syntax and style problems are cheapest to fix before security findings are triaged. - A Dockerfile that builds is not a Dockerfile that is correct; reproducibility, layer caching and image size are part of correctness. - Security findings outrank optimisation findings, so address secrets, root users and unpinned bases before shaving layers. - Every suppression needs a written justification, because an unexplained skip hides a real finding from the next reader. - Static checks and image scanning are complementary, so neither replaces the other. ## When to Use - Validating Dockerfile syntax or debugging a Dockerfile error such as a failed `COPY` or a misplaced `ARG`. - Auditing a Dockerfile (including `Dockerfile.prod` and `Dockerfile.dev` variants) for security issues such as hardcoded secrets or a missing `USER`. - Reviewing layer ordering, cache cleanup and multi-stage opportunities to reduce build time or image size. - Adding hadolint or Checkov checks to a CI/CD pipeline. - Checking for a `.dockerignore` file and sensible base image tags before building. ## When Not to Use …

How to install
mdr add pantheon-org/tekhne/dockerfile-validator@sha256:70baa761907b0584The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261001.6ed2a6a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
