Use when user asks to create a release, cut a release, or publish a version. Auto-detects GitHub vs GitLab vs Gitea, calculates semantic version, generates release notes from PRs/MRs or commits, shows preview for confirmation before publishing.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Release Workflow
Creates GitHub, GitLab, or Gitea releases with auto-versioning and release notes generation.

## Scripts
Helper scripts in skill's `scripts/` directory (use `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}` for path resolution):
- `detect-platform.sh` - outputs `github`, `gitlab`, or `gitea`
- `calc-version.sh <type>` - outputs new version (e.g., `v1.2.3`)
- `get-notes.sh <platform>` - outputs release notes (PRs/MRs or commits)
Every helper exits non-zero and prints the reason on stderr. If any of Steps 2, 5 or 6
fails, report that text to the user and **abort the workflow** - do not continue with an
empty value. `get-notes.sh` in particular fails when the forge CLI is missing,
unauthenticated or rate-limited; continuing there publishes a release whose notes list
none of its PRs.
On Gitea, `get-notes.sh` collects no PRs and returns commit-derived notes with a warning
on stderr, because `tea pr list` exposes neither a merged flag nor a merge timestamp. That warning

How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
