Write a one-page cover letter for one specific job posting and hand back the finished PDF (LaTeX, same header as the user's Jake's-template resume) in a single pass. The user's identity comes from tailor-profile.md and their letter style from cover-letter-profile.md, so the skill works for anyone. Use this whenever the user pastes a job description or link and asks for a cover letter — "write a cover letter for this", "make me a cover letter", "/cover-letter" — or asks for edits to a cover…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Cover Letter
Job description in → finished one-page cover letter (`.tex` + `.pdf`) out. **No intermediate check-ins, no version snapshots.** Research, grounding and humanizing happen silently; the user sees the finished letter plus a short note.
## Hard rules (every user, every letter; no profile can override these)
1. **Header format:** `Start Availability: <Month> <Year>` (always with a year), then a line holding **only a length** ("4 months", "16 weeks", "4/8/12 months"). Never a sentence or a date range.
2. **Paragraph 2 is the user's technical background:**
- It opens by saying how their background fits the company's engineering work.
- It names the relevant languages and tools as a short prose list, plus any relevant coursework.
- It shows those skills in use in the user's **current role** (what they build, with which tools).
- Stories, results and metrics are saved for paragraph 4.

How to install
mdr add wasif0410/job-application-skills/cover-letter@sha256:702641eefe91c8e3The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261008.445471c, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
