threat-model SKILL.md skillA
threat-model from air-gapped/skills is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add air-gapped/skills/threat-model@git:20261027.6fcd57aPins git:20261027.6fcd57a in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

[1/4 defending-code] Build a threat model for a target codebase. Optional first step of the find-and-fix loop (/threat-model -> /vuln-scan -> /triage -> /patch); its THREAT_MODEL.md scopes and severity-calibrates every later step, but /vuln-scan runs without it. Three modes: "interview" walks an application owner through the four-question framework and produces a threat model from their answers; "bootstrap" derives a threat model from the code plus past vulnerabilities…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# threat-model
First leg of the defending-code loop (**`/threat-model`** → `/vuln-scan` →
`/triage` → `/patch`), and an optional one — the loop can start at
`/vuln-scan`. Running this first is what makes later steps scope to real
attack surface and rank by impact on a named asset.
A threat model answers **"what could go wrong with this system, who would do
it, and what should we do about it?"** independently of whether any specific
bug has been found yet. It is the map; vulnerability discovery is the metal
detector. A good threat model tells the pipeline where to look and tells triage
which findings matter.
**Litmus test:** If patching one line of code makes an entry disappear, it was
a vulnerability, not a threat. A threat ("attacker achieves RCE via untrusted
media parsing") still stands after every known bug is fixed; a vulnerability
("`dr_wav.h:412` doesn't bounds-check `chunk_size`") does not. This skill
produces threats. Vulnerabilities appear only as **evidence** that raises a
threat's likelihood score.
**Invocation:** `/threat-model [bootstrap-then-interview|bootstrap|interview] <target-dir> [flags]`

How to install
mdr add air-gapped/skills/threat-model@sha256:7b2b963fd7e2dfaeThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261027.6fcd57a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
