Apply platform-agnostic engineering rules so code, tests, and Docker builds behave identically on Linux, macOS, and native Windows. Use when writing or reviewing code that touches the filesystem, shell, subprocess, encoding, time, paths, native dependencies, or CI matrix — or when the user mentions Windows, macOS, Linux, "works on my machine", cross-platform, portability, or Docker.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Ensuring Cross-Platform Behavior A feature is not "done" because it works on the developer's machine. It is done when it produces identical, correct behavior on every supported platform — verified by tests that run on every supported platform. This skill is the **single source of truth** for platform agnosticism. Other skills (`developing-features`, `developing-features-tdd`, `fixing-bugs`, `writing-tests`, `reviewing-code`, `documenting-features`) reference this one and apply its principles to their respective phases. ## Read first (always) List `learnings/` and read every file relevant to the current task. Project-specific platform constraints, supported-OS lists, or known traps live there and override the defaults below. If a learning conflicts with this file, **the learning wins** — mention it to the user. ## Default supported platforms Until the project says otherwise, assume the defensive case: | Platform | Architectures | Notes | |--------------|--------------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------| …

How to install
mdr add cristhianzl/claude-skills-czl/ensuring-cross-platform@sha256:419bbfbc5d68294aThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260619.c43368b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
