Generate Harness Service YAML for deployable workloads and create via MCP. Supports Kubernetes, Helm, ECS, Serverless, SSH, and WinRm deployment types with artifact sources from Docker Hub, ECR, GCR, ACR, Nexus, and S3. Use when asked to create a service, define a Kubernetes service, set up a Helm chart deployment, configure an ECS service, or define what gets deployed. Trigger phrases: create service, service definition, Kubernetes service, Helm service, ECS service, deployment service…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Create Service Generate Harness Service YAML and push to Harness via MCP. ## Instructions 1. **Detect service type from codebase** (if source code is available) - Scan the project for deployment manifests to auto-select the correct `serviceDefinition.type` and manifest configuration: - `k8s/`, `kubernetes/`, `manifests/` with YAML files → `Kubernetes` with `K8sManifest` - `kustomization.yaml` → `Kubernetes` with `Kustomize` - `Chart.yaml`, `charts/`, `helm/` → `NativeHelm` with `HelmChart` - `task-definition.json` → `ECS` with `EcsTaskDefinition` - `serverless.yml` / `template.yaml` (SAM) → `ServerlessAwsLambda` - `function.json` (Azure) → `AzureWebApp` - `.NET` + Windows → `WinRm` - Traditional app (JAR/WAR) without containers → `Ssh` - See [codebase-analysis.md](../../pipelines/create-pipeline/references/codebase-analysis.md) Step 4 for the full decision tree 2. **Detect artifact source** - Match Dockerfile registry references to artifact source type: - Docker Hub → `DockerRegistry` - `*.dkr.ecr.*.amazonaws.com` → `Ecr` - `gcr.io` / `*-docker.pkg.dev` → `Gcr` - `*.azurecr.io` → `Acr` …

How to install
mdr add harness/harness-skills/create-service@sha256:a52ab691032b1f86The line at the top of this page pins the label v2.0.1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
