Search the assessed NZ and Auckland public-data source catalogue by topic, hackathon problem, owner, access or grade, then route to a fetching skill. Use to discover suitable datasets and inspect endpoint availability.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# NZ data catalogue Look up data sources here first, then fetch with a mapped skill. This is the assessed Auckland CivicTech Hackathon catalogue, seeded from the v4 JSON export for 16 October 2026. It includes NZ sources, global resources and overseas examples; inspect `scope`, `access`, `agent_check`, `not_data` and `caveat` before recommending a source. The bundled snapshot is not a live completeness claim. ## Workflow 1. Search a topic or filter by a problem tag. Use `get` to inspect a candidate's licence, caveats, endpoint and stated latest data. 2. Inspect `fetch_skills`: `existing` means present in the seed repo; `planned` names an engine being built in parallel. Check availability before invoking. `exact` maps the source surface, `related` provides a supported equivalent or narrower dataset, and `catalogue` offers metadata discovery. Read any note. 3. Fetch with the mapped skill's documented commands. Some existing skills, including `at-transport`, require a user-supplied key; this index is keyless and reads no credentials. Empty `fetch_skills` means no known mapping. 4. Use `check` if a live availability probe helps. A reachable page or download …

How to install
mdr add thecolab-ai/.skills/nz-data-catalogue@sha256:dd238008787565ccThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261008.dfe58ed, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
