Writes a structured competitor analysis brief for marketing and sales teams: company overview, recent moves, messaging and positioning analysis, SWOT, recommendations, and cited sources from live web research. Use when the user asks to research a competitor, run a competitive analysis, analyze a rival's positioning or messaging, or build a competitive brief or sales battlecard.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Competitor Research Brief
## Purpose
Generate a full, analytical competitor research brief for a marketing team
audience. The output is neutral and fact-first: it informs strategy, it
does not hype up or trash-talk either company.
## When to use this skill
Trigger on requests like:
- "Research [competitor] for us"
- "Analyze [company] as a competitor"
- "Build a competitive brief / battlecard on [competitor]"
- "What has [competitor] been doing lately?"
## Step-by-step process
**Plugin root:** if a path below still shows an unexpanded
`CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT` placeholder (Claude Code fills it in; other agents
such as Codex don't), resolve it before using any of them: take the
output of `printenv CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT` if it prints a path, otherwise
walk up from this file's folder to the first folder that contains
`references/brand-voice.md`, and if neither works, ask the user where
this plugin lives. Use that absolute path in every file path and shell
command below.
1. **Check onboarding status.** Read
`${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/references/brand-voice.md`. If it doesn't exist,

How to install
