Use before running or interpreting NPA tests, lint checks, or validation reports.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Testing Conventions Use the repository virtualenv. Never use bare `python`; use `npa/.venv/bin/python`. If that venv is shared across checkouts (a symlinked `npa/.venv` in a git worktree or agent sandbox, rather than its own `pip install -e`), it can silently import a *different* checkout's `npa` while pytest still collects *this* checkout's test files — no error, no non-zero exit, just a misleading result. Run `make check-env` (or `npa/.venv/bin/python npa/scripts/check_dev_environment.py`) before trusting any test output from such a checkout; it fails fast with the exact `PYTHONPATH` fix. `make test`/`test-smoke`/`test-guardrails`/`test-e2e` already run it first. Separately, `make test-prereqs` reports (without blocking) which full-suite-parity tools are missing and how much temp-disk headroom is available — see CONTRIBUTING.md's "Testing Requirements". How to install
mdr add nebius/nebius-physical-ai/testing-conventions@sha256:de59f4a133a85a23The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261012.7d1ab82, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
