Show every live local Claude Code session and background agent, grouped by what each one needs next (needs you, Claude can continue, waiting on something outside, held, working, done, stale) and then by repo, with a one-line next step, and under each session the session whose PR it waits on. Use when the user asks which sessions need them, what their sessions are doing, or runs /sessions. With --act, offers to tell the sessions that can continue on their own to continue.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# /sessions Answers one question: which of my Claude sessions need me, and what is the next step for each? `~/.dotfiles/bin/claude-sessions` gathers the facts, puts each session in its group, and prints the markdown without any model calls. It takes the sessions that Switchboard's `sbd` manages from `sb ls --json`, with sbd's group and reason line as their next step, and scans the transcripts of the others. Without `sb`, or when sbd does not answer, it scans every session. This skill answers the checks that need judgment, reading what a session last said, and writes the next steps that the script can't. `~/.dotfiles/bin/lib/claude-sessions.jq` holds the rules. Never message a session to ask about its state. A busy session reads the message only after its current work ends, and the answer spends its context. ## Steps ### 1. Plan Run both in parallel: ```bash ~/.dotfiles/bin/claude-sessions --plan ``` and the `ListAgents` tool. The script can take 20 seconds when many sessions sit in large worktrees. Run it once. If it fails or prints no JSON, show its error and stop. Count the `ListAgents` rows that read `Remote Control · offline`. Step 3 needs the count. …

How to install
mdr add haacked/dotfiles/sessions@sha256:1ce5bdc1ebb03980The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261030.a931305, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
