Report which Home Assistant automations were added, removed, edited, enabled, or disabled since the last snapshot — change memory across sessions, including UI edits that bypass this plugin. Read-only. Use when the operator asks "what changed", "what moved since last time", or to explain a regression.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# HA Automation Diff
## Purpose
`ha-safety-audit` catches POLICY drift at a point in time. This skill catches CHANGE drift: which automations were added, removed, edited, enabled, or disabled since the last snapshot — including edits made directly in the HA UI that bypass `ha-build-automation`. It gives the hermit a memory of "what moved" between sessions, which is what explains regressions and keeps the estate legible.
It is read-only against Home Assistant: it enumerates automations, hashes each stored config, and diffs against the previous snapshot.
## Steps
1. Run `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/bin/ha-agent-lab ha automation-diff`.
2. The command writes a JSON snapshot to `.hermit/raw/snapshot-ha-automations-latest.json` (the baseline for the next run) and a markdown findings artifact under `.hermit/raw/audit-ha-automation-diff-*`, and prints a stdout findings block.
3. Pass the stdout block through unchanged.

How to install
mdr add gtapps/claude-code-hermit/ha-automation-diff@sha256:7a0996522900c9d8The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261002.2f2da1b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
