Configure periodic background checklist runs.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
The heartbeat feature runs your `HEARTBEAT.md` checklist periodically in a background conversation. Each run, the assistant works through the checklist and flags anything that needs attention.
## Setup
Edit `config.json` using `file_edit`:
1. **Enable heartbeat**: Set `heartbeat.enabled` to `true`.
2. **Set interval**: Set `heartbeat.intervalMs` (milliseconds between runs, default: 3600000 = 1 hour).
3. **Optional active hours**: Set `heartbeat.activeHoursStart` and `heartbeat.activeHoursEnd` (0-23) to restrict runs to certain hours in the heartbeat timezone. Hours use `heartbeat.timezone` when set, otherwise the user's configured or detected timezone (the host clock is last resort). Both must be set together.
Example config.json heartbeat section:

Then edit `HEARTBEAT.md` with the checklist items. The assistant will work through this file each heartbeat run.
## Notes
- Toggling `heartbeat.enabled` requires an assistant restart to take effect.
- Changes to `HEARTBEAT.md` take effect on the next heartbeat run (no restart needed).

How to install
mdr add vargasjr-dev/mycadet-temp/cadet-heartbeat@sha256:c8a0a89ad3bca160The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261007.bec8222, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
