## Scope
Apply this skill for any task involving TypeScript code — type definitions, generics, utility types, narrowing, or type-safe patterns. These rules apply across the entire codebase regardless of framework or layer.

## Core Rules
These are non-negotiable. Every rule below is a hard constraint, not a preference.
1. **`type` over `interface`** — always use `type` for defining shapes. `interface` is only acceptable when extending third-party interfaces that require it (e.g. declaration merging for module augmentation).
2. **No `any`** — never. Use `unknown` when the type is genuinely unknown and narrow it explicitly. Use generics when the type varies but is knowable at the call site.
3. **No inline type definitions** — never define types anonymously inside function signatures, variable declarations, or return types. Every shape has a name and lives in a dedicated type file.
4. **`satisfies` over type assertions** — use `satisfies` to validate an expression conforms to a type while preserving the most specific inferred type. Never use `as SomeType` to paper over a type mismatch.

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260824.c5fdf86, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
