Search and read research papers across alphaXiv, OpenAlex, bioRxiv, PubMed, Hugging Face Papers, Papers with Code, and arXiv, honouring the human's per-source on/off switches and full-text read order. Use when finding papers, related work, prior art, or code for a method; when reading a paper's full text or record from its id; or when the human asks to switch a source on or off or reorder where papers are read from.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Paper search `scripts/paper_search.py` in this skill's directory (`$PS` below) searches every literature source the human has switched on, in parallel, and returns one JSON shape; `fetch` reads one paper through the human's read order. The switches and the read order live in the repository's [`memory/paper-sources.json`](../../../memory/paper-sources.json); the human flips the switches from the **Papers** button in os-ui's agent windows. A source that is off is off on every route. Reach literature through `$PS`, and leave a switched-off source alone through other routes as well: MCP connectors, other skills, and web fetches. How to install
mdr add pengqianhan/ai-human-research-os/paper-search@sha256:4f70ef6380275bc5The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261003.306b4b2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
