Use when marking a task complete, finishing a feature, or claiming a bug fixed -- verifies functional resolution before closing. Do NOT use for lint/quality checks (use sniper AFTER this).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

Verification confirms the original request is actually fulfilled -- distinct from sniper, which only confirms the code is clean. It runs a 6-step process: re-read the original request word for word, list every acceptance criterion (explicit and implicit), verify each with concrete evidence (test output, logs, screenshots, diffs), run the full test suite to check for regressions, review every modified file for accidental side effects, then route the "functionally resolved" claim through the `challenger` agent before writing it down.
Step 6 always persists `.claude/apex/docs/verify-{task-slug}.md` -- an in-context "it works" declaration doesn't survive a session boundary, and this artifact is what later gates (sniper, elicitation) actually check. It sits between eLicit and eXamine in APEX: a task is only complete when both verification and sniper pass.

How to install
mdr add fusengine/agents/verification@sha256:e264c281ba979d7cThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261012.0cd6b32, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
