The 'why is my bill high' skill: audits where spend goes across token categories (cache_read, cache_write, output, input) and per-session attribution. Invoke for questions like 'cost breakdown', 'which sessions are expensive', 'what's driving spend', or 'cold start costs'. Not for week-over-week trend lines (use hermit-evolution) or simple total-spend summaries.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Cost Reflect
Runs a structural cost audit over the last 7 days of `cost-log.jsonl` and delivers the result to the operator. The math is done by a script — your job is to run it and deliver the output through the right channel.
## Invocation mode
- **Manual (no arguments):** reply only to the invoking terminal or channel conversation.
- **Automated (`--maintainer`, or any routine/proactive invocation):** produce the full technical
report and send it as a maintainer-tier notice.
## Step 1 — Run the analyzer
On a channel-tagged turn without `--maintainer` (the inbound prompt contains a `<channel source="...">` tag), run
the plain-language mode instead of the full breakdown — a channel operator asking "why is my bill
high" shouldn't get raw token-category jargon:

Capture stdout. `status: "empty"` → say no spend is recorded yet and stop; there's nothing to send. On an `error`, say cost data is unavailable and stop.

How to install
mdr add gtapps/hermitd/cost-reflect@sha256:2d993273dbc7d83dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261017.be46222, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
