Reviews Claude Code release notes and recommends config updates. Use when asking "what changed in the CLI/release", "what should I update", or "review the latest release". Covers settings.json, hooks, permissions, rules, skills, and CLAUDE.md.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

Reads Claude Code release notes and compares them against the user's current configuration to surface actionable updates. Detect versions Run `claude --version` to get the installed version (e.g., `2.1.128 (Claude Code)` — extract the version number). Read `~/.claude/state/cc-release-review-version.txt` to get the last reviewed version. If the file doesn't exist, this is a first run. Compare: - **Same version**: Tell the user "Already reviewed version X" and stop unless they confirm. - **Different version**: Proceed. Report the gap: "Reviewing v2.1.112 → v2.1.128 (last reviewed: v2.1.111 — 17 versions to cover)." - **No state file**: Proceed. Note "First review — no prior version tracked." ### 2. How to install

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
