sqlite-bank-space-diagnosis SKILL.md skillA

sqlite-bank-space-diagnosis from arasz/ai-badger is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Install it, pinned
mdr add arasz/ai-badger/sqlite-bank-space-diagnosis@v1.0.0

Pins v1.0.0 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Use when a SQLite bank file or WAL is bloated: diagnose space read-only first (snapshot backup, sqlite3_analyzer, wal_checkpoint(TRUNCATE), VACUUM INTO to quantify reclaim), explain WAL growth mechanics (checkpointed-but-untruncated frames under pooling), the vec0 chunk count(*) trap, and VACUUM/checkpoint/ANALYZE ordering.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

What the file says

# SQLite bank space & WAL diagnosis (physical layer)

Measured methods from a 2026-08 memory-bank audit. Complements the SQLite schema
review skill (schema semantics); this covers the physical layer — file size, WAL
mechanics and VACUUM semantics.

## Diagnosis workflow (read-only first)

1. **Snapshot before touching anything**: `sqlite3 <bank> ".backup /tmp/snap.db"` — the backup preserves page layout (freelist + page counts matched the live file exactly; cross-check with read-only
   `PRAGMA page_count/freelist_count/page_size`).
2. **sqlite3_analyzer** (official `sqlite-tools-osx-arm64-*.zip`, or
`brew install sqlite-analyzer`): space utilization per table — freelist %, payload efficiency, non-sequential pages, overflow. It is a SPACE tool ONLY: zero coverage of query performance, the WAL file, or FTS behavior (the doc page
contains no "wal"/"performance" mentions — grep before claiming otherwise).
3. **WAL check**: `PRAGMA wal_checkpoint(TRUNCATE)` on the SNAPSHOT (never the live bank mid-analysis). The result row `busy|log|checkpointed` is the signal:
   `0|0|0` = the whole WAL was already-checkpointed garbage and truncation is instant;

How to install

The exact contents, by fingerprint
mdr add arasz/ai-badger/sqlite-bank-space-diagnosis@sha256:e287bc017c4ed776

The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
