A workflow that searches for an existing solution (this repo → internal mirrors → package registries → MCP/skills → GitHub) before writing new code. Triggers right before adding a new feature/utility/dependency, or the moment a "add feature X" request tempts you to jump straight to code. (Origin: the search-first skill from [affaan-m/ECC](https://github.com/affaan-m/ECC), MIT — ported and adapted).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

A workflow to avoid reinventing the wheel. Custom code is the **last resort when the search comes up empty**.
## When it triggers
- The moment you're about to build a new feature/utility/helper that likely already has an existing solution
- Right before adding a dependency or integration (external API, parser, client, etc.)
- The moment you receive an "add feature X" request and are about to jump straight to code
## Search order (inner → outer)

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261024.a835af9, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
