data-loading SKILL.md skillA
data-loading from cxcscmu/skilllearnbench is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add cxcscmu/skilllearnbench/data-loading@git:20260424.d50cf5aPins git:20260424.d50cf5a in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Load and parse CSV/TXT files from travel database for itinerary planning.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Data Loading Skill
## Overview
This skill covers loading and parsing the travel database files used for building itineraries.
## Supported File Types
### TXT Files (Cities and States)
- `citySet_with_states.txt`: Format is `city_name,state`
- One entry per line
- Use for identifying valid city names and states
### CSV Files (Accommodations, Restaurants, Attractions)
- Header row included
- Standard CSV format (comma-separated)
- Handle missing/empty fields appropriately
## Python Code Example
```python
import csv
import json
from typing import List, Dict
# Load city data
def load_cities_with_states(filepath: str) -> List[Dict[str, str]]:
"""Load city and state mappings"""
cities = []
try:
with open(filepath, 'r') as f:
for line in f:
parts = line.strip().split(',')
if len(parts) == 2:
cities.append({'city': parts[0].strip(), 'state': parts[1].strip()})
except Exception as e:
print(f"Error loading cities: {e}")
return cities
# Load CSV data
def load_csv_data(filepath: str) -> List[Dict]:
"""Load CSV file and return list of dictionaries"""
data = []
try:
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add cxcscmu/skilllearnbench/data-loading@sha256:a9ee26d36ac8f61aThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260424.d50cf5a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
