The front door for building a Streamlit-in-Snowflake app from idea to opened PR, or resuming one mid-build. Orchestrates spec, data discovery, page design, scaffold, a parallel page build and review by subagents, and ship, with human checkpoints between them. Start here for any new app, to document an existing one, to add a page, or to act on feedback about a live app. Use when the user says "build an app", "new dashboard", "add a page", "spec this out", "pick up where we left off…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# /build-app > **Repo overlay:** if `.streamsnow/overlays/build-app.md` exists in this repo, read it first — committed, repo-specific additions/overrides ([_shared/overlays.md](../_shared/overlays.md)). Outside Claude Code, also read [_shared/other-agents.md](../_shared/other-agents.md). Lifecycle: **spec → discover → design → scaffold → build → preview → verify → ship → done**. It reads `apps/<slug>/REQUIREMENTS.md` §11 to resume and never skips a checkpoint. > **Orchestrator.** You run every deterministic step (CLI, merges, generation, validation) and own > the shared files; subagents get fixed briefs ([briefs/](briefs/)) naming their inputs, the only > files they may write, and the result they return. The CLI and gates decide pass/fail, never a > subagent. No subagents? Follow each brief yourself ([_shared/other-agents.md](../_shared/other-agents.md)). ## Modes - **Default** — a new app, or a slug to resume from §11 `Current phase`; never restart a build. - **`--spec [<slug>]`** — write or refresh the spec only, then stop. Covers new specs, tickets and **backfill** from an existing app's source (automatic when `apps/<slug>/` has code). [spec.md](spec.md). …

How to install
mdr add kyle-chalmers/streamsnow/build-app@sha256:05db281e92ee2025The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261019.b21ca9b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
