Scan skills to extract cross-cutting principles and distill them into rules — append, revise, or create new rule files.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Rules Distill
Scan installed skills, extract cross-cutting principles that appear in multiple skills, and distill them into rules — appending to existing rule files, revising outdated content, or creating new rule files.
Applies the "deterministic collection + LLM judgment" principle: scripts collect facts exhaustively, then an LLM cross-reads the full context and produces verdicts.
## When to Use
- Periodic rules maintenance (monthly or after installing new skills)
- After a skill-stocktake reveals patterns that should be rules
- When rules feel incomplete relative to the skills being used
## How It Works
The rules distillation process follows three phases:

How to install
mdr add frankxai/agentic-creator-os/rules-distill@sha256:5c457a1789f73124The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260328.03dc5c1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
