Use when starting feature work that needs isolation from current workspace or before executing implementation plans - ensures an isolated workspace exists via native tools or git worktree fallback.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Using Git Worktrees
## Overview
Ensure work happens in an isolated workspace. Prefer your platform's native worktree tools. Fall back to manual git worktrees only when no native tool is available.
**Core principle:** Detect existing isolation first. Then use native tools. Then fall back to git. Never fight the harness.
**Announce at start:** "I'm using the using-git-worktrees skill to set up an isolated workspace."
## Step 0: Detect Existing Isolation
### Astah design model gate — check this before anything else
```bash
git ls-files 'docs/superpowers/specs/*.asta' # the workflow's design model
```
The gate is about a model **this work edits**, not any `.asta` that happens to
be tracked. It opens if any of these hold:
- the command above returns a file, or
- the plan you are about to execute names a `.asta` inside this repository in
its Global Constraints `**Design model:**` line, or
- `get_proj_path` returns a path inside this repository.
A tracked `.asta` nobody edits — a demo fixture, a test resource — does not
open the gate.
**When the gate opens, do NOT create a worktree.** Astah keeps exactly one

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260815.6743039, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
