openviking-memory SKILL.md skillA
This file is byte-identical to the first copy the registry indexed, one of 8 indexed copies. Same content hash, so the same checks give both the same grade.
openviking-memory from volcengine/openviking is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add volcengine/openviking/openviking-memory@v2026.10.1Pins v2026.10.1 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Work with OpenViking, the persistent context database behind this agent's memory. Use it whenever the user refers to earlier sessions or shared history ("like last time", "what did we decide"), asks to remember or forget something, shares files, URLs, or repos worth keeping, or when the task needs context this session does not have — even if nobody says the word "memory". Also use it when the user asks where memories are stored: per project, per folder, or shared between repositories. Covers…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# OpenViking Memory OpenViking stores three kinds of durable context — memories (facts, preferences, decisions), resources (imported documents, sites, repos), and skills — and serves them back across sessions. The tools may appear under a harness prefix such as `mcp__openviking__find` or `openviking_find`; they are the same tools. ## A session's lifecycle 1. **Start** — the OpenViking plugin has usually already injected recalled context into the conversation (look for an `<openviking-context>` block). Check it before searching: if it already answers the question, use it and skip the tool call. 2. **During the task** — when injected context is not enough, retrieve (below). Expand promising hits with `read` before relying on them; an abstract can be staler or thinner than its source. 3. **Data in** — when durable information appears, write it (below). Be deliberate: retrieval quality degrades as the store fills with noise. 4. **End** — the plugin captures and commits the conversation automatically, and OpenViking extracts long-term memories from it in the background. This is why you rarely need `remember`: anything discussed at length will be …

How to install
mdr add volcengine/openviking/openviking-memory@sha256:7acc32358ba98c8bThe line at the top of this page pins the label v2026.10.1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
