Chat with and search your complex documents — ask questions, extract tables and fields, and get answers grounded in the source. Connects the hosted Unstructured Transform MCP server to parse, structure, and enrich PDFs, Word/Excel/PowerPoint, images, scanned files, emails, and 60+ other formats into clean, AI-ready text for search, Q&A, and summarization without building a custom parsing pipeline.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. Hand it files and it turns them into clean, structured, AI-ready data across 60+ formats with one pipeline — no custom parsing or OCR to build and maintain. Under the hood it: - **Partitions** each document into structured elements (titles, paragraphs, tables, lists), adjusting extraction per page for accuracy and cost. - **Enriches** the result with metadata, table and image descriptions, and entity recognition. How to install
mdr add vellum-ai/vellum-assistant/chat-complex-documents@sha256:fe3b6125cf2a36b9The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260713.08c40c8, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
