Run several workhub tasks back to back in this session, one subagent per task, with the owner's choices recorded up front. Use when the owner names an ordered list of tasks to work through (a milestone's run, a dependent series), not for a single task (task-handoff).
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# task-chain — Run an ordered list of tasks The list and its order are the owner's. To get advice on the order, or on what can run in parallel, use `task-orchestrate` first. This session is the **orchestrator**: it holds the order, the dependencies and the owner's choices, and hands each task to a fresh subagent that runs `task-start` through `task-report`. The orchestrator does no task work itself. State lives in `_ai/state/task-chain.json`, kept by `scripts/task-chain.mjs` (`TC` below = `node <plugin>/scripts/task-chain.mjs`, same vault resolution as `task-cli`). ## Steps 1. **Preflight.** `TC preflight <ids in order>` returns per task its status, `confirm`, and each open predecessor labelled `earlier` (in the chain), `later` or `outside`. Fix every `problem` first — drop the task, reorder, or ask the owner to unblock it. A chain with a problem does not start. Done when no task reports a problem. 2. **Ask the owner once, up front.** Put each choice with a recommendation and its reason (decision policy first). Never start a task before all four are answered: - **`depends_on` on an `earlier` task:** *detach* it for the run (recommended: …

How to install
mdr add atman-33/workhub/task-chain@sha256:2636befc398699c1The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261003.f817313, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
