Convert arXiv papers to clean Markdown. Use when the user wants to read, fetch, or summarize an arXiv paper.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# arxiv2md
Convert arXiv papers to LLM-ready Markdown. Parses arXiv's native HTML (not PDFs) for clean output with proper math, tables, and section structure.
## REST API (preferred for agents)
Base URL: `https://arxiv2md.org`
No auth, no key, no SDK. Rate limit: 30 requests/minute per IP. Results are cached server-side for 24h.
> **Don't just swap the hostname.** Visiting `https://arxiv2md.org/abs/2501.11120`
> (replacing `arxiv.org` → `arxiv2md.org`) returns the **HTML web app** for humans,
> not Markdown. For programmatic use always call `/api/markdown` or `/api/json` below.

How to install
mdr add pengqianhan/ai-human-research-os/arxiv2md@sha256:5bf276a8582c61c5The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260715.38d79be, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
